Literature Text

As the wind continues to sweep around us
I pick you up and carry you
Inside, in front of the fire place,
Under the mistletoe.
I slowly trace your hand with my finger,
Waiting for you to take the initiative once again.
The miracles of Christmas are in the air.
Christmas law dictates that two people
Must kiss when they're under the mistletoe.

Nervous and excited,
The warmth I feel from the fireplace
Doesn't compare to the heat from our pounding hearts.

I hold you close, kissing back.
The Christmas lights twinkle their many colors

"Baby, it's cold outside.  Stay here where it's warm.
Tell me Santa has brought me the only thing I really want."
